Unsere gebaute Umwelt begegnet großen Herausforderungen wie Nachhaltigkeit, Ökonomie, dem gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalt, der sozialen Gerechtigkeit und der Neudefinition unseres Platzes in der Welt. Wir verstehen Entwurf nicht nur als Schöpfung von Form, sondern auch als eine Auseinandersetzung mit ebendiesen Beziehungen. Durch eingehende Forschungsarbeit an relevanten Themen und durch das Erkunden innovativer Denk- und Handlungsweisen in vielen unserer Projekte, werden Städte und Landschaften geformt und bewohnbar gemacht.

We are concerned about Athenian urban space, the space between buildings. It is the locus of our public life, of our quality of life, of the quality of our civic society and our civic culture. This blog-based project proposes alternative futures for the extensive areas occupied by cars, and asphalt, in contemporary Athens. The time car dominance and of the exclusion of others must end. In the place of antithesis, we propose synthesis. In the place of asphalt, we propose life.

Greece is a pristine country rapidly undergoing development. Natural and cultural landscapes which have existed for thousands of years are now being transformed to cater to tourism, second homes and other contemporary economic activities. This transformation is currently destructive: the new destroys the old. This is both ecologically and culturally wrong, and economically suboptimal, since tourism and second homes destroy the very landscapes which attract their clients. Our research examines ways in which landscape theory and practice, landscape ecology and landscape urbanism can provide synthetic, creative and benign mechanisms for this transformation.
